Winchester Model 1897

I have a Winchester model 1897 that the serial is E 439360. I am looking for the age of this gun and what the approximate value would be.
I would like to know if this gun would be some what easy to sell . Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Junk ammo

I was just down at Gander Mountain to get an assortment of .223 ammo to try in my new Mini 14, I looked at UMC and a few of the other cheaper brands, from what I could see it was junk, the UMC casings were visibly misshapened at the neck and some had dents in them is this normal for the cheaper stuff or was this some bad lots?

Looking to get a AR-15 style firearm. I know (or at least I think I know) that I want to have the ability to have a scope, flash supressor, extendable stock and a nice forearm maybe with a rail. While all this is the fru-fru, I also want it to be dependable, accurate out of the box etc. What brands or brand has proven to be an exceptional performer without having to spend a fortune with a gunsmith to tweak it? What about barrel twist rate? I think I would prefer the heavier...

Browning Lightweight 12, of Belgium origins, early 1970's model. Is it safe to shoot steel shot though this firearm? It has what looks like a Cutts compensator (although the owner indicated a Polychoke in the email) if that makes a difference or not. Thanks

I bought a 20 guage H&R ultra slug hunter, it seems to kick pretty good, what kind of scope should I get for it? How would you compair its recoil to what caliber rifle? I never shot a 300 win short mag, is that more kick?

Which do you prefer for Deer Hunting? Myself I prefer a 30.06 bolt at 180 grains. My remingon seems to shoot a little flatter using the bolt. What do you guys think of this preference? What choice would you think is the best, bolt, pump or semi-auto

Looking to get a "ballpark" value on a Ruger .357 Blackhawk 3 screw model. I know a gunsmith who may have a pair (not consecutive serial numbers) coming up forsale. The gunsmith indicates that he has done a tune-up and trigger job to smooth the action and make them both real good shooters. I believe the barrel length is 4 5/8? or so. I do not have a serial number from which to go by and I realize that will often make a huge difference in the value of a firearm. I have no other...
